My Work Stuff
"The law does not pretend to punish
everything that is dishonest. That
would seriously interfere with
business." --- Clarence Darrow
My Projects
The Annotated Arizona v. California. My currently on-hold
analysis of the decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court in the battle between
Arizona and California over the waters of the Colorado River.
The history of MMF law pages. Right now
they're kinda un-annotated and jumbled, but I work on it from time to
time.

Legal Research Resources
- The best legal site (and one of the most tabloidy!!) I've come across
so far is the CourtTV site! They
regularly update their page and have stories and legal documents from the
public record of many ongoing cases.
- Coming in a close second is Findlaw,
including LawCrawler and CaseLaw, some of the best free legal resources
out there. They've recently updated with a full database of Supreme Court
and California caselaw. This is just an excellent site all the way around.
- Search the Supreme Court Decision
database at Findlaw. I have imported the bare-bones form code. If
you want more options or a wider search, you really ought to check out Findlaw itself.
History of Law and Historic Cases
- The Brown v.
Board of Education Interactive Experience. Netscape users may get
annoyed at the big font. Use lynx already! This is a very interesting
page about a fascinating and important case.
- The Lindbergh Trial. Yes,
you read that URL right --- a whole site dedicated to the trial of the
century...did they get the right man? Did they even get close? Does it
really matter anymore?
Law and Politics, Law in Practice
- The Southern Poverty Law
Center, a well-known civil rights activist group.
- The Institute for First Amendment
Studies. This group focuses on the 'establishment of religion'
portions of the First Amendment, particularly as it regards the evolution
of the Religious Right.
- The Militia
Watchdog. Run by Dr. Pitcavage (also of alt.war.civil.usa fame), this
is an excellent site examining right-wing militias and their activities.
- I'm an opponent of capital punishment. One of the best factual,
unbiased resources on capital punishment out there is The Electric Chair. The
authors did a mini-documentary on the electric chair at Sing Sing prison
and have done an outstanding job of putting together a lot of resources on
it, and other means and places of capital punishment. This is not a
political site by any means! I would recommend it even to supporters of
capital punishment.
- HateWatch, an Internet hate-crime
and
hate-group monitoring organization.
Law and the Internet
Personal Legal Resources
Quick Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. None of the stuff here is legal
advice, even if it sounds like it.
Case Law Disclaimer: Some decisions are so pivotal to subjects discussed
on my site that I have imported their text. I make no claim to US
goverment copyrights, and I have excised all West Publishing keynotes from
the decisions. For those trying to analyze case law, these keynotes are
invaluable, and if a case strikes your fancy, you should
definitely inquire about getting an annotated copy at WestLaw, West Publishing's on-line pay
database. Although I also regularly use Lexis, I don't find their keynotes to be
as helpful (however, their non-caselaw document database is far superior.)
