A Quick Overview of Trinity History

About halfway through the 21st century, a war broke out between humanity and the gods. The gods had at one time been human - it was easy to forget that. By chance they had been bestowed with great power, power that fed upon itself and would eventually taint their minds into gross insanity and megalomania.

As with all battles humanity has fought against its gods, humanity eventually won, the mechanism in this war being a nuclear-backed ultimatum delivered by China: leave the world or we will all suffer and die. The Aberrants (for that is what they were called) left. But the damage was done: Europe was devastated by a falling, gigantic space station, Florida had sunk beneath the rising waves of the Atlantic, the American heartland Blighted with destruction, sands reclaimed much of the newly-verdant farmland of North Africa, and the major cities of the world lay almost in ruins. The Aberrants were forced first from the planet and then from the solar system entirely.

Recovery was slow but inevitable. Also inevitable was the return of the Aberrants. When they returned in the opening years of the 22nd century, they were met with one of humanity's new weapons: the psychic Orders. These orders had kept themselves a secret for several years, but were revealed in a spectacular fashion when the Legion, a military-style Order, repulsed an Aberrant attack on a spaceport in Australia. The orders, and their umbrella organization, the humanistic foundation named Aeon Trinity embarked upon a massive PR campaign, gaining the acceptance of psions in most areas of the world at least as a matter of necessity, as the Aberrants begin to return and humanity takes its first step out towards the stars.

A Quick Overview of the Federated States of America

At the close of the first Aberrant War, the United States, hit hard by Aberrant attacks (the US was always a favorite of the Aberrants for some reason that is now conveniently forgotten) and internal unrest caused by privations of the war, suspended the Constitution and handed control to the military - the military then formed an unholy alliance with corporate interests to result in the formation of the Federated States of America, a bureaucratically dictatorial, militaristic and isolationist state that exists to the present day. It is one of the few remaining places on earth where psions are not treated as legal equals to baselines.

A Quick Overview of Los Angeles

Los Angeles was the favorite place for Aberrants to attack - it sustained more direct attacks than any other place in the world, for reasons again, lost in the depths of time. Partly sunk, partly ravaged by earthquakes, partly herded by mad Aberrants into starvation labor camps, where they constructed munitions to arm the Aberrants' quisling shock troops, Angelenos fled Southern California in droves. After the war was over, reclamation proceeded slowly, but lucratively enough that corporate investment continues to be attracted into the area - with it, the return of LA seems inevitable. FSA involvement in LA remains low, which means that the variety of catastrophes the FSA can inflict on Angelenos is strikingly low, though their putative servants, the Reclamation Authority have free reign to abuse and frighten the citizenry. One arcology dome is endlessly being constructed and re-constructed on the mountains to the East, another lies complete beneath the sea.
