The Way of the Warrior, Sara's version of Bushido for the modern era. The Seven Guiding principles. 1.Gi: The right decision, taken with equanimity, the right attitude. Always hold true to your own values and act accordingly. Do not force your values on others, no one can be forced to be happy and there are many ways to find happiness. --- she will base her decisions on her own values, mainly that of this code of honor and on her hope of improving the world. She tries to remember that other poeple see things differently. 2. Yu: Bravery tinged with heroism. Fear is a weakness that can kill you and those you love. You must always believe in yourself and in your cause, you must be whiling to make sacrifices. --- She will not flee from a fight unless there is no other option. She is willing to die for her principles, but is not as willing to sacrifice the lives of innocents. If she can save the lives of innocent people by dieing she will do so with out hesitation. She feels it is her duty to fight so that others need not feel the misery of killing, She feels that it is also her duty to die to protect the things and people she loves. People are innocent, if she deems them to be. 3. Jin: Universal love, benevolence toward mankind; compassion. Including Right View, perception of things and events from multiple perspectives not only one. --- This comes out mainly in tht she can never turn a person in need down. I was actually thinking of giving her Charitable to cover this part, because in general it is such a basic part of personality. If there's a kid in need of a home she takes them to hers. If someone needs money she'll give them her last dollar. If someone is in need of aid it is her duty of help them somehow. --- Judging people should be done with caution, she tries not to form opinions about people to quickly. And is always trying to look at a person or thing from a different point of view before passing judgment. 4. Rei: Right action--courtesy and just action. Do what you must to be true to yourself. Treat others, as you would have them treat you. --- She treats the bum on the street the same as the mayor of the city. Which means that if she has reason to believe someone is a murderer no matter what their station she will act accordingly. She tends of apologize alot, for making judgements and for having to hurt people. Along the lines of "I'm sorry but since you did not surrender now I will have to take action against you." it is also a long the lines of saying to someone, Talia-"I'm sorry", NPC - "huh?", Talia- "I'm sorry I thought you were a bad person for a moment." 5. Makoto: Utter sincerity; truthfulness. Honesty in terms of always being true to yourself. If you are not true to yourself how can you expect other to be true to you? Lying begets lying and spawns distrust. --- She will not lie, lieing is based upon her view of the truth. She will not stop others around her from lieing but she will make it known that she does not approve of it, if they do so intentionally. This also means that in general she tries to stay within the law. But she holds her law/code higher than that of the Law. As in if the two are in conflict she will stick to her own sense of honor and truth, not those placed upon her. She doesn't like bending the rules, her or anyone elses, but will do so for the greater good, or to maintain a more important rule. Such as lieing and saying she did something to keep a freind out of trouble. But once she lies she feels that she has to purge herself of it, and will tend to go tell someone of her error as soon as she can. As in, as soon as her friend is out of danger, she'll say that she lied to save them. 3. Melyo: Honor and Glory, but always taken with humility, the truly great need not say so. --- taking credit for what you've done, but not for what other have done. Honor is the gift, that one gives herself. It's the pride that one is allowed to have when you have done what is right and prevailed. It is a gift to oneself this means that no one else needs to hear about is. She does not Boost ever and most of the time will pass the credit on to someone else. 7. Chugo: Devotion, Loyalty. Do not turn on yourself or those you love. Believe in yourself and those you trust. Doubt is the seed of destruction. --- She always keeps her word once given. She will finish every task she is given and will not accept excuses from others when they don't come through. Trust is something she is whilling to offer but as soon as you betray it she is swift to remove any loyalties she might have to you. She also tends to believe that people are good unlit proven otherwise. She will also take the blame from other she feels undeserving of it. If the party gets in trouble she'll jump up and try to take all the credit in hope of getting the rest off the hook. For her friends she will sacrifice herself with out thought. The Greater Underlying Principles: Pacification of the emotions; Vengeance and revenge are as the snake that bite his own tail, everything you send out will come back to you. --- She avoids actiing on strong emotions such as Vengance, Revenge, Hate, Lust, Dispair, Loss, .. etc. But she does act on love, loyalty, honor, need, and rightousness. Tranquil compliance with the inevitable; Death and life are one, when your time comes do not fear the consequences of your life. If you have lived life to it's fullest then you shall have no regrets. --- This aspect makes her a little bit reckless incertain instances. She is willing and capable of doing almost anything to protect the people and things she loves. She believes very strongly in not having any regrets. She can and will make the big decisions swiftly, and without regret. She may however appologize later(if there is a later) if she made a bad decision. Self-control in the face of any event; In the Calm of the storm one face any obstacle with out distraction. Sometimes inaction is better than action. --- This is what keeps her from being reckless most of the time, it ties in strongly with not acting on strong emotions. She tends to think before she acts and tries to remind herself of it at all time. She has a bit of trouble with this one when a life is in danger. Respect all life, especially when you are about to take one. All things have the right to live, but some loose this right. Fight for each breath as if it were your last. --- She always accepts an honorable surrender, and will methodically give people the option before attacking and especially before any killing blow. She's not big on the sneaking in and getting the first shot plan. She prefers not to kill poeple and tries to prevent others from killing people around her unless it is absolutely necessary. If there is no other choice then she will often burry or arrange for burrial of any bodies out of repect for the those that died. She doesn't like to leave dead bodies lieing around. This does not mean in the middle of an important operation she'll stop and start burrying bodies. Only that when things are settled she'll make an effort to make sure their remains are handled properly. Harmony and balance in all things. A person must be balanced in order to be at peace. --- One can not be just a fighter, being a great swordsman does not make you a happy person. She studies a wide range of things to keep herself balanced. She has points spread into things such as Signing, origami, surfing, astronomy, mechanic and anthropology. She's still a great swordmen and combat person in general but she also has many non-cambat ones as well. Poverty. Material wealth is meaningless with out spiritual and mental wealth. Take what you need to survive. --- She should have no more than a max wealth of poverty level struggling. And even then most of that money has been given away to people she feels need it more than she does. She doesn't care much for physical posessions, but there are a few things of hers that she would rather die than lose, that being her sword and a charm Kaji gave her. This also means that she doesn't think much when destorying things. In this way she tends to be rather thoughtless, she just forgets that other people value their possesions. ie "Ooops, I'm sorry did that car mean something too you?"
