The Past
"The future, according to some scientists, will be exactly
like the past, only more expensive." ---John Sladek
My Family
My relatives are all teachers, it seems. My mother teaches first grade and
is the webmaster of Garden Lakes
Elementary School in Phoenix. My father teaches mathematics at Glendale Community College. (You
can see a rather good picture of him at The Math Department
Faculty Page, just look for Dr. Ted Corley.) My grandparents on my
mother's side were teachers at Grand
Canyon University in Phoenix. (You can see a picture of them at My
Mom's old page about them, although links from there are a bit dodgy.
You can also follow the progress of my grandfather's golf team (he is
still the golf coach) at The Grand Canyon University
Sports Page.) My grandparents on my father's side were also
teachers, though in the pre-Web days so they don't have any links.
I have a sister, Sharon, who is working in the political field at the
moment. She recently graduated from Arizona
State University, but we won't hold that against her. She is of no
relation to Sharron
Corley, an actress who was in "The Substitute" and "New Jersey Drive".
My cousin Kenny Corley holds the UA homerun record! He hopes to be
entering law school next year. Read about
the homeruns at collegesportnews.com.
My Education
I attended Tolleson Union High School (now just plain Tolleson High
School), which is in a little town on the west side of Phoenix. I had a
great time.
From there I went to The University of
Arizona, where I studied mathematics and philosophy, with a particular
specialization in logic. I also studied physics and astronomy, but changed
majors a few times around them.

My own Logic Work
My abortive attempt to create an online History of Logic can be viewed here. Someday I may return to this
project, as it is still outlined and planned, and I think it would be
valuable.
