Like everyone else even remotely interested in the history of logical thought, I am deeply indebted to William and Martha Kneale, whose Development of Logic is a tremendous aid, inspiration and, believe it or not, makes fascinating bedtime reading.

Using this History: The Options

There are several ways you can search through this History of Logic.

Start at the beginning, go until you reach the end, and then stop. The logical way, after all.
Forget that! Skip to the modern stuff! This is the 20th century, after all, and I want instant gratification!
No way, those guys are losers. Just give me an index to these pages, and I'll be happy forever.
