Kalasvanian Mafia Timeline 1978 - First identification of the Kalasvanian Mafia as distinct from the "Vory V Zakone" is made by Interpol agents. Four hitmen opened fire on a cafe in the Balanesti resort town of Perperin, killing three. Immediately after the assassination, many Russian Mafia lieutenants withdrew their operations from Eastern Europe, allowing KM to expand. They had been bought off handsomely. Independents were forcibly recruited or killed in what is now known as the "Twilight" period of KM. Recruitment of mutants throughout Europe, Russia and the Middle East also began at or near this period. 1980 - KM eliminates recalcitrant Eurasian organized crime ring with an energy-wielding mutant attack on their suspected headquarters in Warsaw. 1982 - KM operations are uncovered in Lithuania and the Netherlands. Arrests lead to information regarding a pan-European reach for the crime ring. 1983 - The first coordinated mutant assassination occurs when a full building in the Italian city of La Spezia is collapsed by KM operatives. The head of Mafia crimeboss Luigi Kalome is found on a spear in front of the home of another known don of the Mafia. Later that year, Cenrakda appears for the first time on Interpol's Wanted List with a Red Notice. 1984 - The Kalasvanian Mafia assassinates three Irish Republican Army gun-runners. Accusations of complicity between KM and the British government in the killing are proven unfounded. 1986 - The chief of law enforcement for Latvia states that the Kalasvanian Mafia was in control of "virtually every criminal activity" in the nation. 1987 - FBI wiretaps of Russian mafia interests in the United States reveal a withering of the Russian mafia's influence in Europe. For the first time, money laundering investigators estimate that more money and support is flowing from the New World to the Old Country. 1988 - The first known mutant operative of KM, Calo "Shepherd" al-Sharraq, an Iranian national, is convicted of murder and racketeering in France. He confesses to a complicated, mutant-centric KM. He also reveals that a high priority for KM is salvaging Soviet-era hypertechnology from Eastern European laboratories. He is currently incarcerated in the high-pririty wing of La Centrale d'Arles prison. 2000 - Kalasvanian authorities request assistance from Interpol in arresting a KM cell/family. In a 9-day siege that eventually involved NATO troops, dozens of officers were killed and many civilians wounded in the bloody battle. The only survivor, a poison-inducing mutant codenamed "Cyanide" (real name unknown) killed the last of the enclave rather than allow them to be captured. Cyanide escaped before trial and remains at large. |
