Characters

"If its not love, then what is it I feel?
But if it's love, by God, what is this thing?
If good, why then the bitter mortal sting?
If bad, then why is every torment sweet?" --- Petrarch
Here's where you can find some information about the characters that have appeared in the game. I'll be putting some background information here too, but not too much since I don't want to give anything away to the players.

Player Characters

Cheng Tao-Fan

Kylie

Sofia Caligari

Hertz

Alexandre Albin

Others At The Chantry

Maximilian & Eva

Their last names are not known. They served Paracelsus faithfully for many years, and continue on in their positions as servants at the Starry Night Chantry. Maximilian is a combination valet, butler and hostler. Eva is a combination cook and maid. Both are quite old, in their forties.

Gatther Kaupmann

An extremely talented, irascible, self-absorbed and sarcastic young member of the Order of Hermes who was sent to study with Paracelsus by his master, Harialta Vastianna of Zagreb. GM NOTES: To the amusement of my players, his name is pronounced "Gay-ther." A simpleminded lot, they are.

Crachne

A Verbena skilled enough in Connection to escape the assaults of the Teufel knights who are scourging Lithuania of the pagan influence. She went to Horizon to demand assistance, and returned with none, then came to Starry Night for rest and recuperation before returning to her homeland. GM NOTES: Her name is pronounced "crouch-knee" or "crotch-knee". There is not much known today about Lithuanian paganism. There is definitely a high god of war and nature called Perkunas - there was even a tendency towards monotheism in the aristocracy of Lithuania that let them hold out conversion to Christianity as a diplomatic hole card for many years. Although the rulers of Lithuania were officially converted in 1386, paganism remained strong for at least two centuries in that land. During the middle of the 15th century, Teufel knights of the church were engaged in a campaign to violently put down the pagans that remained. These knights operated with the knowledge and consent of the Lithuanian princes.

Order of Reason

[ Picture of Hans ]

Hans Bertmann

The Craftsmason head of the cabal of Daedalans in Vienna. Brisk, efficient, thorough, and troubled. Known to all Order of Reason members in Vienna, he speaks on mathematics at the University and has a workshop somewhere nearby.
[ Picture of Holter ]

Ente Holter

An Artificer member of the cabal of Daedalans. Known as a smith, but also capable of creating magical devices in secret. Little is known about him by the player characters.

Gastva Siklorvy

A member of the High Guild who approached Sofia with a proposition for an information exchange. Her relation to the Daedalan cabal is unknown.

Lierich Windrolf

A Gabrielite who was allegedly sent to assist the Daedalan cabal but definitely with his own ideas about how things should be done.

Other Magi

Dr. Paracelsus

Solificati. A white-haired man, white-haired before his time with the strain of trying to promote tolerance between ideas that seem inexorably opposed. A terrible sword-scar crosses his face and neck, although he never revealed where it came from. He left the Starry Night chantry to the care of the player characters in the opening of the game.

"Mad" Margareta of Paracelsus

Sahajiya. (?) Known as a madwoman in Linz, she is named as Dr. Paracelsus' sister in his instructions. When the player characters arrived to give her some money Paracelsus left behind, they found her home burned and her gone.

Others

Theorus Vasso

Cook at the home of Freiherr Henzenante of Trento. Known to be associated with Windrolf, though in what capacity is not known.

Andrzek Marosia

Ambassador from the Kingdom of Poland to Frienderich III's court.

Jorek Maros

Illegtiimate son of Andrzek.
