Background
Dr. Preston currently acts as Cecilia
Johnson's appointed therapist. He cheerfully complains about
trying to help "someone who is smarter than me and can read my mind,"
but he appears genuinely concerned for her mental well-being, and takes
his
assignment very seriously. His notes indicate that he adopts a slightly
joking and
slighly challenging manner, and tries to get her to apply her own
intelligence to the task of figuring out what she can do to improve her
life.
Preston has absolutely no pull with hardline anti-mutant
officials, but is well-regarded among more progressive-minded Federal
employees. He has an excellent working relationship with other members
of the medical community, and is also Cecilia's primary emergency
contact. He uses
Cecilia's diary-keeping as part of her treatment.
