4. Priscilla Martin, spoiled starlet GAME: 1940s FBI Hunters game If you've ever read anything about the life of Mary Pickford, just multiply her bad points by 10 and you've got Priscilla. She's 15, she's more recognized than the President, and three out of every ten men in America lust after her and she knows it. She throws tantrums. She gets soused. She flirts shamelessly. She uses men like Kleenex, and throws them away like darts. Any male characters should be treated this way. Priscilla is blond, slim, and utterly devastatingly beautiful. 5. Eddie Pavliona, crazed fan GAME: 1940s FBI Hunters game Eddie has been on edge for months, as a prop man for the "Count Dracula" production. He only got the job since his father knew the producer, and he only wanted it so he could be closer to Priscilla, who of course made him the whipping boy of the set. He's getting crazier and crazier with time. In the scenario I had planned, a Toreador vampire who the hunters were tracking made Eddie believe that he was a vampire and that Priscilla and he could be united forever if Eddie would bite her, too. The vampire then fled. Fortunately for Priscilla, the agents were easily taken in by Eddie's ruse, and gunned him down as he attacked her. Minor legal entanglements ensued, but Hollywoodland has a lot of clout. Eddie is not a bad-looking guy, but he has thick horn-rimmed glasses and is pretty clumsy. 6. Gregory Hansell, Ph.D. GAME: Washington, DC Arcanum game Gregory Hansell is the head of the Washington DC lodge of the Arcanum, and works at the National Archives. He has a photographic memory and is extremely brilliant. However, he is rarely seen at the Lodge: in fact, it's very rare to see him anywhere outside of the National Archives building and associated tunnels. The reason for this is that Hansell knows that a hideously deformed creature which he saw once stalking the tunnels between the Archives and the Library of Congress knows that he is something more than an Assistant Undersecretary of Operations. He therefore is protecting the Arcanum by avoiding them. However, he has gone to great lengths to keep his phone line secure, and he is a valuable resource for any Arcanum operations in the area. Hansell should be presented as a man who is willing to let Arcanum members pursue their own leads, and in fact seems to prefer this. (He does: the less he knows about it, the less the 'thing' can know about it.) He continually comes across evidence of "strange" happenings, and he passes this evidence along to Arcanum members: sometimes with no comment, sometimes with a brief "You can look into this if you like." Gregory looks like a balding, middle-aged man. He wears reading glasses, and has a slight paunch. In other words, he looks like a thousand other government workers in Washington, DC. 7. Maria Theresa Theresa Maria GAME: Sabbat "specialists" game Maria Theresa Theresa Maria is a 9th Generation Malkavian antitribu Inquisitor for the Sabbat. She travels with a small entourage of other Inquisitors (a Brujah antitribu, a Lasombra, and a Nosferatu antitribu), all of whom are dedicated to her with a fanaticism that borders on that provided by a blood bond. Maria has an obsession with cleanliness. She travels in a large steamer trunk that can be sealed airtight, and which, on the inside, is lined with plastic. Her entourage, when setting up her torture chamber, first covers the floor, the ceiling and the walls with plastic, then removes all of the furniture, then disinfects the plastic, then makes the doors airtight, then seals off the ventilation system. Only then do they open the trunk. Maria rarely speaks. She is a very quiet girl. Unlike most Inquisitors, Maria never uses any sort of equipment other than a single scalpel, which is always extremely clean, and extremely sharp. She wears latex gloves, a simple white smock, and no shoes. She is very, very good at what she does, which is ferreting out Infernalists and traitors. The characters, no matter how depraved they are, should be scared of her. Maria Theresa Theresa Maria has a shaved head, a pretty face with blank green eyes, and is always, always clean, her pale skin almost glowing white.
